OSMANIA University is now planning to go global and establish a university-academia hub.
The Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, Mr Mohammed Suleman Siddiqi, said that the university would soon begin offering educational courses to those living in Jeddah, Qatar and Dubai, since there is a need to cater to a large immigrant population there.
"Though the act does not empower the university to offer such education abroad, since these laws are archaic, we have taken necessary clearances," Mr Siddiqi said.
He was addressing newspersons here on Wednesday after tying up with Genpact to offer a graduate course for its employees.
Osmania is tying up with companies by offering necessary courses. It is also collaborating with Satyam.
The university plans to set up a Rs 9-crore university-industry hub that would be useful for both the students and faculty.
This project would be completed by the year-end, Mr Siddiqi said. Osmania also plans to work on creating a science tech park, which would require a lot of funding.
