Rubber Rubber falls on global impact Our Bureau
Kottayam , Feb. 8 ANOTHER sharp fall in global rubber futures hammered the domestic prices on Wednesday. Selling from dealers and speculators kept all major grades under pressure while the covering groups and purchase agents preferred to maintain a low profile in a falling market. Sheet rubber RSS 4 declined to Rs 82 and Rs 82.50 a kg from Rs 82.50 and 83 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi. The NMCE rubber futures stayed in tune with the international markets recording heavy losses in all contracts. The February contract was traded at Rs 82.70 (Rs 84.48), March at Rs 85.76 (Rs 87.87), April at Rs 87.61 (Rs 89.85 ) and May at Rs 88.79 (Rs 90.86 ) per kg for RSS 4.
The transactions totalled 2,424 lots registering 75 lots in February, 1,318 lots in March, 436 lots in April and 595 lots in May till mid-session on the NMCE . The March futures for RSS 3 took a nosedive by 9 yen (Rs 3.37) to hit the lower circuit at 254.1 yen (Rs 95.23 ) a kg against 263.1 yen at TOCOM. The grade closed at Rs 95.65 against Rs 95.48 a kg at the Bangkok spot. The spot prices per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 82 (Rs 82.50); RSS-5: Rs 80.50 (Rs 81); Ungraded: Rs 79 (Rs 79.50); ISNR 20: Rs 80.50 (Rs 81) and Latex 60%: Rs 58 (Rs 58.50).
