Rubber Rubber turns weak on global trend Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Feb. 10 SPOT rubber witnessed a mixed trend on Friday. According to sources, the weakness in Japanese futures markets guided the domestic sentiment, though there were no quantity sellers in any grades. RSS 4 fell to Rs 81.50 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi against Rs 82 and Rs 82.25 a kg respectively on Thursday. Meanwhile, major manufacturers were also reported to be buying sheet rubber at current levels. The rubber futures turned weak on NMCE trading; the February contract was at Rs 81.25 (82.09), March at Rs 83.70 (85.62), April at Rs 85.90 (87.85) and May future at Rs 87.86 (89.25) per kg for RSS 4. The April contract for the grade moved down to Rs 86 from Rs 87.71 a kg on MCX. The NMCE volumes stood at 2,047 lots - 28 lots in February, 1,088 lots in March, 437 lots in April and 494 lots in May till mid-session. The March futures for RSS 3 declined Rs 1.95 to 254 yen (Rs 95.46) a kg from 259.2 yen at Tocom. RSS 3 closed at Rs 95.65 a kg at Bangkok spot. Spot rates a kg were: RSS-4 Rs 81.50 (Rs 82); RSS-5 Rs 80.50 (Rs 80.50); ungraded Rs 78.50 (Rs 79); ISNR 20 Rs 80.50 (Rs 80.50); and latex 60% Rs 58 (Rs 58).
