Mangalore varsity convocation today

THE 24th annual convocation of Mangalore University will be held at Konaje in Mangalore taluk on February 11.

Speaking to newspersons on Friday, Prof K.M. Kaveriappa, Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University, said that Dr C. Rangarajan, Chairman of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, would deliver the convocation address.

Mr T.N. Chaturvedi, Karnataka Governor, will preside over the convocation.

Prof Amrith Someshwar, Ms B. Nanjamma Chinnappa, and Mr Justice N. Santosh Hegde will be conferred honorary doctorate degrees.

Prof Kaveriappa said that 29 students will be awarded gold medals and 48 will be given cash prizes. Fifty-one research scholars will be honoured with doctoral degrees, he added.
