Tunia Cherian George

Mumbai , Feb. 11

FARE adjustments are not happening on the India-London route alone. There are some attractive deals to be had on the India-US sector also, as airlines try to capture market share ahead of the peak season for outbound travel in May and June.

Lufthansa has announced a return fare of Rs 31,500 to the US. With taxes and fuel surcharge working out to approximately Rs 8,000, a return fare to the US would amount to Rs 40,000. The Lufthansa offer, on the Mumbai-Frankfurt-New York route, is available till May. However, an industry official added that since a limited number of tickets were offered at this rate, reservations would be subject to availability.

Following close on the heels of the Lufthansa offer, Alitalia has also offered a basic fare of Rs 31,500 on the Mumbai-Milan-New York sector. To avail themselves of the offer, passengers have to book their tickets before February 28 and travel has to be undertaken by May 31.
