Kannur farmer bags award

KOTTAYAM: Mr K.V. Gopi (45), from Pathiriyad in Kannur district, has won the biennial `Karshakashri' Award 2006 instituted by Malayala Manorama to honour an outstanding farmer in the State.

The award carries Rs 2 lakh, a gold medallion and a citation. The award will be presented at Kozhikode on March 12. Mr K.V. Gopi is the eighth recipient of the award.

The selection panel comprised Dr M.S. Swaminathan, Dr V. Kurian, Dr K.V. Peter, Dr A.K. Krishnakumar, Mr Mammen Mathew and Mr R.T. Ravivarma.
