National meet on energy security from today

New Delhi , Feb. 13

THE Centre for Resources Management of Observer Research Foundation is organising a two-day national conclave on `India's energy security: major challenges' from Tuesday.

The conclave, to be held in New Delhi, would be inaugurated by Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission.

The guest of honour at the valedictory session would be the Petroleum Minister, Mr Murli Deora. The conclave will deliberate on overview of global energy oil supply and demand patterns and implications of a high oil price world; role of government, companies and markets in hydrocarbons supply security; and role of government, companies and markets in coal supply security.

It would also take up issues such as increasing variety, balance and diversity in energy mix; moving towards a low carbon economy; improving access to energy: structural reforms and regulation.
