Mumbai , Feb. 13

TELECOMMUNICATIONS software company Mahindra British Telecom has allied with VeriSign to provide security solutions for support of "next generation network" services.

VeriSign is a US-based provider of intelligent infrastructure services for Internet and telecommunication networks.

The two companies will develop and market end-to-end security framework that can protect the integrity of a carrier's infrastructure, applications and content, said a joint news release from Barcelona, Spain, where the alliance was announced.

MBT already runs an interoperability laboratory for certification and integration services. This will be built upon to enhance the company's security portfolio for wireless operators.

The services in this area will be developed and marketed for the Asia-Pacific and EMEA regions.

The alliance will leverage the telecom consulting skills and expertise of MBT and help market VeriSign's intelligent commerce, communications and content (IC3) services in new geographical regions.
