THE Annual Plan size for Haryana for 2006-07 has been pegged at Rs 3,300 crore, which includes a one-time additional Central assistance of Rs 25 crore provided for projects of special interest to the State.
This was agreed at a meeting between the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the Chief Minister of Haryana, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, here on Monday. Complimenting the State for its good performance, Mr Ahluwalia said that the State had developed the capability to reach over an 8 per cent growth rate during the Eleventh Plan period.
He said that there is a visible improvement in the State's fiscal indicators and an investor-friendly environment has been created.
Hailing the high literacy rate, the Planning Commission has suggested that Haryana should aim to be the first major State with 100 per cent literacy during the Eleventh Plan period.
Haryana was also asked to focus more on reducing transmission and distribution losses and improving collection efficiency in the power sector.
