URANIUM Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL) has said that the proposed mining and processing activities at Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh would be carried out with adherence to environmental standards.
In a press note it has stated that steps would be taken to uplift the living standards of the people in the region.
The press note also stated that operations at the project locations were being scrutinised and evaluated by technical experts of regulatory authorities at the State as well as the Central levels.
It is pointed out that the corporation was allowed by the Andhra Pradesh Government to set up the proposed uranium project at Nalgonda district, on the basis of recommendations of a high-power technical committee appointed by the State Government in April, 2003.
The committee had verified the working practices being adopted by UCIL at its existing processing unit at Jaduguda in Jharkhand.
