New Products & Services Bird flu: SRL Ranbaxy puts out diagnostic test Our Bureau
New Delhi , Feb. 14 SRL Ranbaxy has launched the RT-PCR diagnostic test for bird flu disease. This test can be effectively employed for mass screening and gives accurate results in one day, faster than the time taken by other tests. Outbreak of bird flu in migratory birds in China, Tibet, Mongolia, Russia and recently Turkey has raised fears that the virus responsible could spread to India and other countries. These tests will cost between Rs 1,200 and Rs 2,500 and would be available nationally. An official spokesperson said, "India has not reported any case of bird flu in humans or birds. But we must be prepared adequately if we are to contain the disease before it gets out of control. This test will be available across our 550 centres in over 350 cities through our network." Also, during the SARS outbreak in 2003, SRL Ranbaxy offered tests.
