HC begins hearing on Birlas' plea

Our Bureau

KOLKATA: A Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court comprising Mr Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose and Mr Justice Tapan Kumar Dutt on Monday began hearing of the appeal filed by K.K. Birla, S.K. Birla and Y. Birla against the order of Mr Justice K.J. Sengupta, discharging their caveat filed in the matter of Will of Priyamvada Birla. The Will was made in 1999, appointing Rajendra Singh Lodha as sole executor.

Birlas filed another appeal challenging the order of Mr Justice Sengupta allowing the caveat filed by Mr R.S. Lodha in the matter pertaining to the 1982 Will of M.P. Birla.

Mr Lodha challenged the caveat of the four Birlas filed in the Will matter, and the court discharged caveatable interest of all except G.P. Birla. Against this order, the three Birlas went in Appeal.

On the 1982 Will of M.P. Birla, the court allowed the caveat and dismissed the petitions of the Birlas. The hearing would continue.
