New market cap rankings

Nilanjan Dey

Kolkata, Feb. 14

ONGC, Reliance and Indian Oil seemed to have lost out in the market cap sweepstakes, while BHEL, L&T, Maruti and Tata Motors have gained, considering variations in ever-changing market capitalisations over the last one month.

FMCG counters such as HLL and ITC, both of which are at its 52-week highs (Rs 200 and Rs 164, respectively) too have been winners during this period.

As things stand, energy companies ONGC, Reliance and NTPC are the three top Sensex counters. The total market cap (free float) of all the 30 constituents of the index is well over Rs 6.2 lakh crores. At the bottom of the heap are counters such as Reliance Energy, Maruti and Dr Reddy's Lab.
