Marginal hike in domestic copper prices likely

Our bureau

Mumbai , Feb. 15

MAJOR copper producers— Hindustan Copper, Birla Copper and Sterlite Industries— may raise their selling prices marginally on Thursday for the current month, trade sources said.

Producers normally revise their prices twice a month.

In the beginning of the month, copper producers announced a price hike of Rs 6,800-6,900 a tonne following continued rise at the London Metal Exchange (LME).

"Producers may announce marginal increase in copper prices tomorrow, despite of the fact that current correction is underway," a dealer said.

In line with international trend, Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) has already cut its prices by Rs 2,900 a tonne on zinc products and by Rs 1,200 a tonne on lead metal on Tuesday, trade sources added.
