Endemol NV sets up subsidiary in India

New Delhi , Feb. 15

RECOGNISING the potential of the entertainment sector in India, the Netherlands-based Endemol NV has set up its first Asian subsidiary here.

Endemol India plans to leverage its intellectual properties in the Indian sub-continent as part of its international expansion strategy. In a statement, Mr Peter Bazalgette, Chief Executive Officer, Endemol, said, "The Indian television industry is seeing a significant shift towards non-fiction programming with audiences keenly following new concepts and formats. Our rich experience in these genres will help us to partner Indian broadcasters in offering exciting groundbreaking shows on Indian television."

The company owns well-known formats like Fear Factor, Deal or No Deal and so on. It will produce the second season of Star One's successful show - The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and has recently entered into a production-linked deal with Sony Entertainment Television.

Mr Rajesh Kamat, Managing Director, Endemol India, added that the company will be keen to develop and produce Indianised versions of our popular global formats and also create ideas locally.
