Bangalore , Feb. 15

RESIL Chemicals and Dow Corning Corporation have announced a collaboration for development and research of products for the textile industry.

The Resil Chemicals Managing Director, Mr M.S. Mohan, told newspersons on Wednesday that the focus of this collaboration will be product innovation and growth.

The jointly developed product will be marketed under the Resil brand name, which will also be identified as Powered by Dow Corning.

The first product off the block from this collaboration will be Resil Innocelle YL, followed by `powered by Dow Corning' product, Resil Inncelle KS.

Resil Innocelle YL is a silicone yarn lubricant that gives durable softness and tensile strength.

Mr Mohan said the collaboration will help customers in India to get solutions available globally. Dow Corning India's Managing Director, Mr Raj S. Kapur, said Resil would have access to Dow Corning's formulation development and technical expertise. Mr Kapur who is also the Dow Corning's regional manager for Asean and South Asia pointed out that the use of silicones in India per person had doubled over the last one year. The tie-up for the textile products is the first by Dow Corning.

The Global Industry Director for Dow Corning, Mr Patrick McLeod, said India and China are the two most important markets for the company. He said nearly 10 per cent of the total sales of the company is from China.

Dow Corning's President for emerging markets and for Europe, Mr Bruno J.M. Sulmon, said last year that the company posted higher sales and profits compared with the previous years.
