UBI employees demonstrate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Employees of the Union Bank of India held a mass demonstration in front of the regional office here on Wednesday to protest the sale of stake through a second public issue by the bank.

The President of the Bank Employees Federation of India (Befi), Mr P. Sadasivan Pillai, inaugurated the proceedings conducted as part of a nationwide show of dissent against the public issue.

The State General Secretary of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Mr C. Divakaran, addressed the demonstrators.

The union leaders, Mr C.A. Jameskutty, and Mr C.P. Radhakrishnan led the demonstration. Among those who spoke on the occasion were Mr S.S. Potti, Mr G. Madhusoodanan Nair, Mr L. Chandrasekharan Nair and Mr S. Gopinathan Nair.
