Himalya gets $3m cheese order from US

Mumbai , Feb 15

HIMALYA International Ltd has informed BSE that the company has received its first cheese order of $3 million from Castle Gourmet Cheese Company, Pennsylvania, USA.

The entire order will be executed by November this year. The American collaborators will be overseeing the entire phase of production, the company said in a news release.

This has been made possible by the company's Mozzarella cheese plant set up in December.

The foreign collaborator has formed a separate company - `Artiginale Italiano Inc', for marketing the specialty Buffalo Mozzarella cheese being made at the company's cheese plant in Himachal Pradesh.

This specialty cheese has hitherto been the exclusive domain of Italy. Himalya would be the first company, outside Italy, to process this specialty cheese using the natural advantage of the abundance of buffalo milk in India, the release said.
