Events `US, India need to work together' Our Bureau
Mumbai , Feb. 15 VENTURE capitalist Mr Pramod Haque of Norwest Venture Partners, has suggested that US and India should jointly explore the opportunity for the development of infrastructure to create next generation technologies. Such an arrangement would be in the interest of the future growth and prosperity of both nations. He was speaking at the Nasscom Leadership Summit in Mumbai on `US-India Strategic Alliance: What next?' On Wednesday. Mr Haque suggested the creation of US India Development Labs (USIDLS), on the lines IITs which would focus on the development and creation of next generation technology. The IPs generated by such a lab could be commercialised by the industry in collaboration with venture capital firms. Mr Haque said the US faced challenges in sustaining its technology creation capabilities as the "reverse brain drain" to countries such as India and China was catching up and the impending retreat of Baby Boomers would create a tremendous shortage in the country's intellectual capital over the next few years. It is in this context the US needs to align with countries such as India, which has an emerging intellectual capital base, to stay on top of the technology ladder , he said.
