Unwarranted withdrawal of MIS bonus

The Centre has overnight withdrawn the bonus incentive of 10 per cent on the MIS. This is a very popular scheme, which has attracted lakhs of investors across the country.

Why this desperate hurry to roll up the incentive through administrative orders when the Budget presentation is only a few days ahead. This will be a big blow, especially for small investors.

This measure is in contrast to the former Finance Minister, Mr Jaswant Singh's message to the investing public that he would try to allow more money to remain in their pockets.
