New Delhi , Feb. 16

TO showcase Indian and global innovations, Discovery Channel will be airing a new programme, `Beyond Tomorrow,' where it will televise novel ideas that have been transformed into fully operational machines.

Numerous grassroots innovations that have taken place in India will also be highlighted on the show. Fabrications that serve day-to-day needs will be featured. One such innovation is the amphibious bicycle, designed by Mr Mohammad Saidullah, from Bihar — a conventional bicycle that can be modified to cross ponds and water bodies. It can also be used during floods.

Ms Remya Jose, a college student in Kerala, has devised a pedal-operated washing machine, which runs on mechanical energy. It saves power and also functions as an exercise bicycle.

Mr Dhajibhai Keria from Gujarat, who is himself physically challenged, has modified an existing scooter to make himself mobile. Discovery has teamed up with the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) to put together the series. It will conduct a nationwide road show, which will include a special address by eminent scientists.Beyond Tomorrow will be telecast daily from February 20-24 and will thereafter will be aired on every Friday.
