The Hindu Business Line : SBT staff to stage sit-in

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Bank of Travancore (SBT) Staff Union, affiliated to the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI), is staging a sit-in in front of the bank's head office here on Friday to press various demands.

Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, will launch the agitation, a spokesman for the union said here.

Mr P.K. Gurudasan, General Secretary, CITU State Committee; Mr Kadakampally Surendran, legislator; Mr M. Vijayakumar, former speaker; and Mr K.O. Habeeb, Secretary, CITU, will address the demonstrators.

The demands being raised include, scrapping of proposed move for merger with SBI; setting right the Core Banking Solution and making it consumer-friendly; restoration of appointments made on compassionate grounds and recruitment of adequate staff. - Our Bureau
