New Delhi , Feb. 16

THE Prime Minister's Committee of Infrastructure today approved setting up of SPV for eastern and western rail freight corridors.

The SPV would have participation from the Railway Board, Planning Commission and Finance Ministry.

The committee also approved conducting pre-feasibility studies for several proposed expressways, to be constructed by NHAI, that include stretches between Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Agra, Bangalore-Chennai and other stretches with traffic density of over 40,000 passenger car units.

Approval has also been obtained for feasibility study of Mumbai-Vadodara expressway, said senior officials. Steps to ensure faster clearances at ports for importers was another issue that was discussed. The major cause for delays in completion of roads along the Golden Quadrilateral is due to land acquisition issues, they said.
