Internet Marketing - New Products & Services NowPos unveils voicemail service Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Feb 19 NOWPOS Online Services, a Hyderabad-based technology start-up, has announced the launch of what it claimed was the first voicemail service in the world. Just as one registers for e-mail from an e-mail service provider, one has to register at www.nowpos.com to access this voice-based mail service, which has been developed on the company's proprietary technologies. Frost & Sullivan has chosen NowPos (Now Possible) as one of the 20 top broadband innovations in Asia Pacific, describing it as the "coolest bridge in the Internet space." NowPos, which has just 20 employees, is the only Indian company to feature in this list. Once logged on to NowPos, which is currently free, one can send and receive voicemail; users need to have a headphone with speaker facility to do so. Those who do not want to listen to advertisements, which currently constitute the revenue stream, might have to pay an annual fee. The structure is being worked out. Speaking to newspersons ahead of the launch of this service, the Leader of NowPos, Mr Ayyappa Nagubandi, said: "All these days, the company offered the usage through invitation and with the formal launch today, anyone can just log on to the Web site and enjoy the advantage of a voicemail." Dr T.R. Madan Mohan, Director of Consulting, ICT, Frost & Sullivan, said: "The interface for NowPos is as convenient as text e-mail interface. These are some of the reasons for us to believe that this service has the potential to challenge text formats e-mails, at least in the personal e-mail space. This has the potential of being used in BPOs and KPOs, which have voice-based interface." Mr Karri Sriram, Director (Marketing), said: "We would like to enjoy the advantage of being a small and yet innovative company. However, we are open to strategic partnerships."
