KOTTAYAM: Mangalam group of publications has prepared a project to help out the poor and bright children studying in the fifth standard to plus two levels in Government aided schools in the State. It is implemented with the cooperation of Mangalam readers and well-wishers, said Mr Sabu Varghese, Chief Editor of Mangalam daily.

In the first phase, 1,000 students from 14 districts in the State will become beneficiaries. They are entitled to get from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 a year towards meeting the initial expenses when schools reopen after annual vacations. Mangalam Jeeva Karunya Society will be the implementing agency. The project is expected to commence with an initial capital of Rs 30 lakh.
