Letters Village economy
In the article `Modernising the village economy' (Business Line, February 20), the author has suggested that we make provisions for the educated to stay in or move to villages. If the President's idea of providing urban facilities to the rural areas is implemented, naturally this will happen. Educational institutions, hospitals, good power supply, clean drinking water, a good road network, etc., would automatically draw people to villages. In Tamil Nadu, Vellore, and many villages of Kanyakumari dsitrict could be examples. Clusters of industries should be extended. And the new interest evinced by corporates in agriculture and rural development is a good sign.
