TATA Motors is making an incremental investment of around Rs 200 crore for expanding its manufacturing capacity at its Pune facility for the 700cc mini truck Ace, said Tata Motors Vice-President Sales and Marketing, Commercial Vehicle, Mr Shyam Mani.
Speaking at the launch of the vehicle in the Capital on Monday, Mr Mani said that the present production capacity of 30,000 trucks a year would be scaled to 60,000 trucks a year.
"The expansion of the production facility has already begun and would be completed by June," he said. The production capacity could even be raised to 75,000 units if the need arises, he added.
Priced at Rs 2.43 lakh in Delhi for the Euro III version, Ace would be rolled out in other cities of northern India after June, he said. Delhi is the second State in north India after Rajasthan where the mini truck has been launched. The vehicle was earlier launched in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. The company is already selling around 4,000 units of the vehicle a month, said Mr Mani.
