Spot rubber prices improve

KOTTAYAM: Monday witnessed all-round improvement in spot rubber prices. Covering groups and purchase agents turned aggressive once again as international futures markets gained sharply on speculative buying.

Sheet rubber improved to Rs 79.50 and Rs 80 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 79 on Saturday. Major manufacturers continued to keep off and the arrivals were meagre. NMCE March contract closed at Rs 82.90 (81.88), April at Rs 85.95 (84.43), May at Rs 87.95 (86.45), and June at Rs 89 (87.63) for RSS 4. The March contract for RSS 4 was traded at Rs 82 against Rs 81.25 on MCX.

Spot prices a kg were: RSS-4 79.50 (79), RSS-5 78.50 (78), ungraded 77.50 (76.50), ISNR 20 78.25 (77.75), and latex 60 per cent 56.50 (56.50).
