ECOSECURITIES, originator of carbon credit projects, announced plans to assist Indian project developers in entering the clean development mechanism carbon credit market.
EcoSecurities plans to start with initial assessments, full project documentation and steering projects through formal approval processes and finally monitoring, verifying and either acquiring or transacting greenhouse gas emission reductions created by the projects.
"Our company plans to make significant investments in the origination, implementation and commercialisation of a number of carbon credit projects in India,'' Dr Pedro Moura Costa, Founder, President and COO, EcoSecurities, said here at a news conference.
India, according to Ms Ishani Chatopadhyay, Director, EcoSecurities India, is the second highest supplier of CERs (Certified Emission Reductions) to the market.
The Indian market is projected to be about $ 40-50 million annually.
