Haffkine Bio mulls ventures for vaccines

Mumbai , Feb. 23

The Haffkine Bio-pharmaceutical Corporation Ltd (HBCL), a public sector company, is seeking a partnership with a private sector player for setting a joint venture for producing new age vaccines.

It wants to create a Rs 40-crore joint venture company in which it is ready to invest Rs 10 crore, said Dr Ravindra Bapat, Chairman, HBCL. He was addressing the media here on Wednesday. Dr Bapat said through the joint venture, the company wants to enter the new age tissue culture vaccine market. HBCL foresees a good market for measles, diphtheria, polio, typhoid and Hepatitis vaccines.
