Railway `racehorses'

The article `Mr Lalu Prasad and his horses' (Business Line, February 21) is informative, timely and interesting. It was news that Railways has wagons worth more than Rs 37,500 crore.

It is important that these assets are exploited fully.

The article brings to the fore the importance of rail freight traffic management for a healthy and profitable Railways. It is also important to uncover the causes of the current problems and identify the constraints in transforming the mules into racehorses.
