Frankfinn, UK firm tie up for training certification
Syllabus to be tailored to Indian needs

G. Gurumurthy

Coimbatore , Feb 23

CANDIDATES getting trained from Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training (FIAHT) centres across the country will from this year onwards stand to gain internationally recognised academic and vocational certification from Edexcel, UK for their qualified training programmes.

This follows a tie-up that the Delhi-based FIAHT recently worked out with the UK-based academic and vocational qualification awarding agency.

FIAHT will now be able to award Edexcel's BTEC (business technology education counselling) higher national certificates for the service industry for its students passing out of the one-year diploma courses in basic cabin crew (air-hostess), hospitality, and travel management.

BTEC qualifications are offered in 112 countries and have international currency; they facilitate the students' transfer globally for continuing vocational programmes anywhere in the world and enhancing their employment opportunities, according to FIAHT officials.

To facilitate this, the UK vocational qualification awarding institution will adopt the existing syllabuses offered at the Frankfinn Institute into BTEC HNC specifications so as to award the qualification certification at Frankfinn centres in India.

According to Mr Mohan Naarayan, Manager (Operations) for Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Frankfinn said that the institute will be the only one in India to award the Edexcel qualification certification.

An ISO 9001 company, Frankfinn currently runs 49 training centres across India. It is planning to set up 12 more centres.

"With the number of training centres expected to cross 60 this March, the total number of students could touch 12,000," said Mr Naarayan.
