Punjab National Bank opened its 130th branch in the State on Thursday at Oachira in Kollam district.

The Secretary of the Oachira Temple Administration, Mr K. Bhargavan, inaugurated the branch at a function presided over by Mr S.V. Shenoy, Zonal Head of the bank for Kerala.

Among the first to launch the initiative for moving over to core banking solution, the bank has on date more than 1,800 networked branches. The Oachira branch has been networked to the core banking platform from day one, said Mr C. Subramanian, Senior Manager.

The bank has 4,500 offices spread across the country and had aggregate business worth Rs 1.72 lakh crore as on December 31, 2005.
