Agricultural Policy States - Kerala Kerala Cabinet nod for organic farming Our Bureau
The Department of Agriculture will be the nodal agency for purposes of implementation of schemes to promote organic farming in the State, the Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, said. The policy statement provides for the setting up of a company for marketing organic produce. It has listed out various other initiatives for popularising organic farming in the State. The Cabinet has also decided to set up a technical university in the State, the Chief Minister said. At least 82 engineering colleges, 29 MCA (Master of Computer Application) colleges and 19 MBA (Master of Business Administration) colleges will be brought under the purview of the new university. These include institutions run directly or receiving aid from the Government as well as those operated under the self-financing option.
