Pre-Budget chemistry for Bayer Crop

The generally indolent Bayer CropScience counter on Monday witnessed a sudden surge in activity on expectation of some Budget incentives for the agro-chemicals sector. Traded volumes shot up by about four times to 83,449 shares on the BSE against its fortnightly average. The stock finished with a gain of around 4 per cent at Rs 198.10.

In terms of price movement, it remained flat to negative in the past one week. It is still down by over 12 per cent from the level it reached a month ago on the BSE.

According to dealers, some punters placed a relatively safe bet just on the eve of the announcement of the Union Budget proposals.
