Dam issue

Johney Thomas

APEX DECISION: The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the level of the Mullapperiyar dam can be raised from 136 ft to 142 ft ending years of dispute between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Kerala had argued that the Periyar Tiger Reserve and nearby areas would be hit if the height of the dam was raised. It has now decided to seek legal opinion on the Supreme Court verdict.
