Continuity in policy

Our Bureau

Bangalore, March 1

Mr Suresh Senapaty, CFO and Executive Vice President, Wipro Ltd feels that the Budget has rightly focussed on investment, employment, infrastructure and social sectors including education.

"This is a growth oriented budget. At a macro-economic level, control of fiscal deficit augurs well for the long-term health of the country. Stability in rates of direct taxes and continued rationalisation of indirect taxes provide continuity in policy, which business values much.

"The move to make India a manufacturing hub for IT products is welcome. The move to simplify Fringe Benefit Tax is also in the right direction. However, introduction of excise duty on software products can adversely impact demand," he said.
