Events Meet to focus on use of IT in agriculture Our Bureau
Mumbai , March 2 To explore the potential of e-agriculture for the benefit of the rural economy, a conference, with focus on the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in agriculture, will be held in Maharashtra's Baramati town during March 9-11. The conference seeks to bring together policymakers, NGOs, development agencies and corporates to examine how they all can work together to successfully promote e-agriculture, and possibly replicate the success of IT and ITES driven services sector growth. Organised by Vidya Prathishtan's Institute of Information Technology (VIIT) and Yes Bank, the meet will explore use of ICT for managing many of the risks associated with agriculture including weather, inputs, agronomy, finance, markets and infrastructure.
Range of topics
Expert panellists are scheduled to discuss a range of topics such as innovative practices showcasing benefit of ICT for agriculture sector, role of ICT in facilitating agri-finance and agri-insurance, corporate experience, power of collaboration and role of government. Policymakers representing Central and State Governments, farm research organisations, academic institutions, international agencies, financial institutions and experts from related other fields have agreed to share their expertise, organisers said. About 200 delegates are expected to participate in the conference.
