REAPING MORE: Organically-cultivated paddy being dried at Puzhakal in Kerala's Thrissur district. Organic farming, using the Jyothi variety, was introduced by the Adat Farmers Co-operative Bank in 1,000 hectares in Puzhakal, Puranatukara and Adat villages by roping in 2,300 farmers. The farmers hope to harvest nearly 5,500 tonnes of paddy, which has been priced at Rs 1,000 a quintal. The Ernakulam-based Nest Group has already purchased the paddy.
