`No major surprises for life insurance'

There are no major surprises for the life insurance industry. There were some minor benefits in FBT relief in superannuation and pension forming part of the Rs 1-lakh limit, says Mr Sam Ghosh, CEO, Bajaj Allianz. "We hope that this time around the pension Bill gets passed. That's an opportunity waiting for a big break since 90 per cent of Indians are not covered by old age benefits/social security," he said. The 5-year and above fixed deposits being part of 80C exemption creates more competition for life insurance industry, he said.
