Oracle to focus on smaller centres

Our Bureau

Ahmedabad, March 3

Oracle has decided to have a direct presence in several middle tier cities in India. It is already represented through its local partners in cities such as Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Pune, Visakhapatnam and Lucknow. But the company has now decided to post its sales and support staff in these cities in an effort to tap these markets better.

"We are trying to get better depth by having a greater geographical spread. We find that technology absorption in the SMB sector has been growing rapidly and we want to give on-the-ground support to that market," the Oracle Senior Director (Mid Market Tech Sales) for Asia Pacific, Mr Lee Thompson, told Business Line here on Friday.

As part of the effort, Oracle is also selecting and training local partners who would sell its technology products to the SMB segment clients.
