Awards & Honours Citrix bags award for web conferencing service L.N. Revathy
Coimbatore , March 3 `Citrix GoToMeeting' from Citrix Systems has bagged the 2005 Frost & Sullivan award for `Best New Web Conferencing Service.' Hailing the growth, simplicity, security and functionality of the service, industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan observed that web conferencing service such as `GoTo Meeting' helped transform the business environment and the way in which individuals communicate. "Web conferencing and collaboration play a strong and growing role in helping companies improve the management of their cross-enterprise and value-chain processes dramatically. By providing access to a set of Web applications Web conferencing tends to accelerate the speed and effectiveness of business decisions," said Ms Roopam Jain, senior analyst at Frost & Sullivan. The firm's market research indicates that the Web conferencing market would witness an annual growth of 27.4 per cent between 2004 and 2011 and an estimated $3.1 billion in 2011. "We're bullish on the hosted Web conferencing model," said Ms Jain. The success of this trend would however depend upon moving beyond a simple meeting environment to a high level of collaboration, he said. Besides offering a user-friendly interface and feature set, GoToMeeting offers a simple and affordable Web conferencing solution, including core solutions desktop screen-sharing, chat functionality, free bundled audio service, integration with Microsoft Outlook, instant messaging and passing control. "The ability to incorporate graphical and audio components into application-sharing sets the stage for replacing face-to-face meetings with Web meetings," said the President of Citrix Online Division, Mr Brett Caine. Citrix has confirmed that such simple web conferencing models transformed the way in which businesses are conducted.
