Shasun gets UK nod for facility

Chennai, March 7

Shasun Chemicals and Drugs Ltd announced on Tuesday that the company has received the approval from Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), UK, for its WHO-CGMP formulation facility. The unit manufactures Oral Solid Dosage forms (tablet and capsules) for bulk tablets packing. With this approval, Shasun's products could be sold on commercial basis to the UK and European countries. The company's formulation plant at Pondicherry wascompleted in mid-2005. This manufacturing unit has a capacity to produce 3.6 billion tablets per annum. In a press release, Mr Vimal Kumar, Joint Managing Director, Shasun Chemicals, said the approval would enhance Shasun's capabilities to support the requirements of companies worldwide.
