SCALING UP: Workers grading cardamom at collection centre in Kerala's Idukki district. Cardamom prices have improved a tad with the bold varieties (8 mm and 7 mm above) being in good demand. The 8 mm bold variety, in short supply, is selling for Rs 440 a kg in the market. The 7.5 mm sells at Rs 325-350 a kg and current bulk at Rs 210-225 a kg and the sick varieties at Rs 165-180 a kg. Total arrivals of cardamom up to February 22 stood at 6,932 tonnes and sales soared up to 6,483 tonnes.
