DY Patil group to open intl school in Pune

Pune , March 8

The DY Patil group with major interests in education is all set to open a Rs 100-crore international school in the city, which will offer Cambridge and International Baccalaureate programmes to students.

The group, which runs over a 140 educational institutions, including management, medical, catering and architectural courses in the State, is also eyeing the huge demand for quality education in markets like West Asiaand South East Asia, Mr Ajeenkya Patil, Chairman, told Business Line on Wednesday.

Named after Pawar

The proposed international school in Pune, christened the Sharad Pawar International School after the State's best-known political figure, promises to set a new benchmark for school education, with almost 30 per cent of the faculty having being chosen from some of the best educational institutions from around the world. Set on a 100-acre campus in the Haveli taluka, the school will offer day and residential options for students and some of the best sorting facilities available.

The first academic year will kick off this June with 350 students and will ramp up to the level of 1,200 students in three years, Mr Patil said. The first academic year will offer boarding facilities to boy students and residential facilities for girl children will start from the next year.
