Coimbatore , March 9

The National Convention on South Indian Teas 2005-06 is slated for March 11 and 12 at the SITRA Auditorium in Coimbatore.

This is the third edition of the Convention organised by the Tea Trade Association of Coimbatore under the auspices of the Tea Board. About 300 delegates have enrolled for this event.

The organisers have proposed to focus on promoting `tea as a health drink' and aggressive marketing of the South Indian teas.

To dispel doubts looming large among upcountry buyers about the quality and uniqueness of the South Indian teas, the association has resolved to take the delegates on a tour of the estates in the Anamallais and Nilgiris region on March 10.

Technical sessions on the tea industry trend, marketing strategies and trends in packaging and value addition would follow the inauguration. The event is to be inaugurated by the Tea Board Chairman, Mr Banerjee.
