Mumbai , March 9

The Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) is organising the fourth international conference on Communications Convergence, the theme being `Connecting India — The Global Challenge', in Mumbai from March 16.

Mr Rajesh Kapadia, IMC President, said the Maharashtra Minister for Finance, Mr Jayantrao Patil, Chairman of Dishnet Wireless, Dr Vijay Bhatkar, and other eminent personalities in this field would participate in the event.

Objectives

He said the basic objectives of the conference is to provide a platform for Government policymakers, leaders of industry and other stakeholders in the communications industry to discuss various options for ensuring a meaningful connectivity to `the not yet connected', in a reasonable time frame with a view to facilitating speedy modernisation of India.
