Hyderabad , March 9

"Constant reinvention is the best way to keep winning in this competitive world. The day you stop innovating, you could well be good for a museum," said Mr T. Hari, Senior Vice-President (Human Resources), Satyam Computer Services Ltd.

Unwillingness to look at things differently is the biggest problem with people. "Forget what you have learnt and start learning new things," was his advice to students.

Mr Hari formally launched The Hindu Business Line Club (BL Club), at the Siva Sivani Institute of Management, Secunderabad, on Thursday.

Addressing the students, Mr Hari said three important qualities that organisations are searching for in bright students are quality, ability to translate ideas into action and articulate them effectively.

In most recruitment procedures, the maximum one gets is 30 minutes and occasionally 45 minutes to gauge these three important traits.

Answering a range of questions from the students, Mr Hari said that attrition is acceptable and difficult to stop. Organisations are only devising ways of keeping employees happy in order to retain them. His advice to students was to achieve the ability to define contentment — work challenge, money, etc. and never be satisfied on professional grounds.

"It's a wonderful idea to bring Academia and Media together and involve industry professionals to interface with the student community," he said.

Earlier, Mr G.S. Narasing Rao, Dean and Chief Mentor of SSIM, in his address said that the institute took the initiative to launch BL Club as it would be highly useful to students. The Regional General Manager of The Hindu, Hyderabad, Mr P. Ranga Reddy, explained the intent behind the launch of the club and its activities. Prof. K.S. Ramachandra Rao, Deputy Director (Placements), proposed the vote of thanks.
