New Delhi , March 9

The Sahara India Parivar on Thursday announced the launch of Sahara Global, a travel and tourism company. Addressing a press conference to announce the launch, the company's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Romi Datta, said Sahara Global would cater to the travel needs of individuals, corporates and small businesses.

The new company, which is to commence commercial activity in a phased manner by the end of this month, is to provide a "bouquet of services," including facilities for in-bound and outbound travel, conference and exhibitions, medical tourism and services for non-resident Indians (NRIs).

"An interactive B2B and B2C e-portal that will provide hotel and flight bookings engine, self itinerary making tool and a payment gateway will also come up soon," Mr Datta said.

The company plans to manage 52 hotels properties across the country in the next three years, he said.

Commenting on the investment plans, the CEO said that the group was looking to invest about Rs 300 crore over the next five years. "The funding will be through internal accruals although at a later stage we will borrow from financial institutions," he added.
