Rubber Renewed buying props up spot rubber Our Correspondent
Kottayam , March 10 Spot rubber prices firmed up reacting to renewed buying interest from the consuming sector. Certain buyers from the tyre field were active in sheet rubber up to Rs 78.50 a kg, sources said. Though the international futures ended in red, a partial recovery in Bangkok spot kept the physical prices in green. RSS 4 improved to Rs 78.75 and Rs 79 a kg, respectively, at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 78 and Rs 78.50 a kg on Thursday. The volumes were not impressive in the absence of quantum sellers as the market appeared to be consolidating around current levels. The NMCE March contract ended at Rs 78.95 (Rs 79.06), April contract at Rs 82.15 (Rs 82.45), May contract at Rs 84.80 (Rs 85.03) and June contract at Rs 86.45 (Rs 86.80) per kg for RSS 4. The March delivery contract for RSS 4 declined to Rs 78 from Rs 78.83 a kg on MCX. The April futures for RSS 3 fell to 233.5 Yen (Rs 87.89) from 239.6 yen a kg at TOCOM. The spot prices per kg follow: RSS-4 Rs 78.75 (Rs 78); RSS-5 Rs 77.50 (Rs 77); ungraded Rs 76.50 (Rs 76); ISNR 20 Rs 77.25 (Rs 77) and latex 60% (a litre) Rs 55 (Rs 55).
